News from the East;

We have a challenge!

We have been challenged by a brother (wishing to remain anonymous) that will make donations to our building fund based on attendance at our stated meetings.

Fifty  dollars for twenty five members per stated meeting.
One hundred dollars for thirty members per stated meeting.

This is a wonderful opportunity for everyone to help contribute to our building fund and help in restoration of our lodge by just attending the stated meetings.  Only stated meetings and members of Union Village count, and this is in effect from now until the end of the year.  This will give us the potential to earn seven hundred dollars by the end of the year just by attending lodge.  I would like to encourage everyone to come out and help us take advantage of this generous offer.

If anyone else out there would like to match this challenge, it would be greatly appreciated.

Spring Cleanup;

We will be having a spring cleanup day April 27th at 8:00 am.  We will be making final plans for this at the April 11th stated meeting.  We can use all the help that we can get, as we have some fairly ambitious projects planned for that day.  I believe that some refreshments will be coming from the West and South, and hopefully fellowship will abound with our labor.  If you can come out and lend us a hand on the 27th, we can use all the help and support we can get.

Building Project;

I would like to give a very big thanks to several brothers that have given very generous donations to our building fund.  This is a good start and without your help our work could not go on.  We have a long way to go and are just getting started.  We are still in the planning stages, but we will be proceeding with the restroom work very soon.  The lodge has established a dedicated building fund for this purpose, and money will not be coming out of the general fund for lodge restoration.  This means that as far as funding for this project is concerned, we are starting from scratch.  We will all have to work very hard to gather the resources needed to achieve our goals.

Breakfast;

Our first breakfast on March 9th went off well, though attendance was a little slow the food was great and the fellowship was even better.  J. D. Richards brought some super jumbo eggs from Walker Farms.  Someone said that they so large that they must be rooster eggs, but that issue is still in doubt.  Your support at our breakfasts would be very much appreciated as all the proceeds will go to the restoration of our lodge.  So come out and bring your family and friends.  This is some really great food don't miss it.

Some parting thoughts;

There is an old saying, use it or lose it, and once it is gone you can never get it back.  We are now in the beginning of a renaissance in this country, since the events of  September 11th and the turmoil now going on in the Middle East our society has been shaken to the core.  The moral values and love of freedom our forefathers fought so hard to preserve for us are more precious than ever.  The brothers of Freemasonry and our faith in God help form the foundation, that supports Freemasonry as a pillar of strength, bringing light into a troubled world.  Your participation is needed in helping preserve Freemasonr
